The Château de Pierrefonds welcomes on June 14 (until September 08, 2024) within its walls a new exhibition, Viollet-le-Duc and archeology. On this occasion, the monument will participate in European Archeology Days, during which numerous events will be organized, showcasing its exceptional collection of archaeological furniture.

  - Expert word: Metal “treasures”

Come and meet archaeologist Vincent Legros who will present to you a selection of the most interesting metal objects from the archaeological collection of Pierrefonds Castle: a valuable expert point of view.

- “Paving tiles” workshop

From 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 14:00 p.m. to 17:00 p.m., departures every 45 minutes.

Discover the refinement of the medieval paving decorations found during the restoration project led by Eugène Viollet-le-Duc in the 19th century and learn about the different stages of creating a pattern.

  - Flash visit “In a thousand pieces”

From 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 14:00 p.m. to 17:00 p.m., departures every 30 minutes.

The discovery of an archaeological object always raises many questions: How can we imagine its missing parts? How can we interpret its use or find the period in which it was made? With the help of a heritage facilitator, take an interest in the most beautiful ceramic pieces from the Pierrefonds collection and learn about archaeological interpretation.

From 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 14:00 p.m. to 17:00 p.m., departures every 30 minutes.

Raising awareness of the major themes of the exhibition Viollet-le-Duc and archeology through a presentation of 5 astonishing objects, found by the architect in the rubble of the medieval castle.
