Around September, a deep rattle resonates in the forest at nightfall: it is the bellowing of the deer which marks the mating season...

Deer try to intimidate each other in order to become the dominant male in a herd of does. Sound provocations are sometimes followed by a few fights during which the animals' antlers clash.

An ONF animator will accompany you throughout this nocturnal stroll which will sharpen your senses to perhaps have the chance to hear the king of the forest roar...

  • Not accessible to children under 6 and people with reduced mobility.
  • Walking shoes recommended; Warm and/or waterproof clothing essential.
  • Provide headlamp or pocket.
  • Course on natural terrain in the heart of the forest; significant walking distance.
  • Parking on the visit site, but carpooling recommended due to travel between the Parc à Bois de la Faisanderie and the visit site.

NB: This outing is not based on the observation and search for deer on their slab places. Listening to the slab remains unpredictable and is not guaranteed, or even impossible in the event of bad weather: the outing will be mainly focused on the nocturnal discovery of the forest.
