It is a nationally recognized tourist label, which was created by the French Federation of Green Stations in 1964. Its objective is to develop rural tourism while participating in the preservation of local areas and their economic dynamism.
It is an organized resort offering meaningful stays, promoting natural, authentic, humane and environmentally friendly tourism.
It can be located in the countryside, in the mountains, near the coasts, overseas and offers the services and pleasures expected in the Nature universe. Today, there are nearly 500 labeled destinations in mainland France and overseas, most of which have fewer than 2000 inhabitants.
This develops activities linked to the promotion of natural, cultural or intangible heritage while participating in their preservation. It offers sustainable and educational initiatives around education and environmental awareness, offering activities around well-being and rejuvenation.
It is committed to working with local tourism, promoting local products, short circuits and local know-how. It contributes to the well-being of local communities and the improvement of the living environment. It promotes the development of benevolent tourism that respects people and the land, by developing the slowtourism, homelessness and soft travel.
