Museum workshop of brushes

a a a a a

About us

During the Belle Époque, the village of Tracy-le-Mont was the capital of fine brushmaking. Its luxury brushes are exported all over the world.

Attached to the preservation and enhancement of the heritage and memory of the brush workers of the Oise, the Brushworks Museum Workshop, rich in nearly 10 objects, opens its doors to you on the first and third weekend of each month from March to October. Its volunteers offer you a trip to the land of brushières with a guided visit to the old Commelin-Brenier brush factory. They will help you discover the many facets of this art profession, specific to our department.

A unique collection in France

Unusual brushes made of bone, ivory or island wood, but also tools and machines that tell the story of the working world in rural areas, women's work at home, the cooperative, free thought, solidarity with blind brushwomen, or even Tracy's links with Japan.

• Presentation of the site with the model (former power plant).

• Presentation of the collections in the museum workshop.

• Exhibition: photographs, manufacturing techniques, etc.

• Presentation of the bone and wood dryer. The story of a restored endangered heritage (Stéphane Bern Mission selection, Heritage Foundation label).

Open the first and third weekend of each month (from the beginning of March to the end of October). Guided tours at 14 p.m. and 16 p.m. Duration 1h30
