About us

This bunker built by the Germans between 1915 and 1916 – using stones from houses in the village of Nampcel – was intended to house a regimental headquarters. Its location on the opposite slope was ideal for protecting the officers who had all the comforts of the time: electricity and fireplaces. The origin of the name remains uncertain to this day. This shelter remains an exceptional testimony to the sophistication of German fortifications during the Great War. It is today restored and highlighted by an association, APRAK (Association Pour la Rénovation de l'Abri du Kronprinz). Several hiking trails pass through these places, additional information from theOffice de Tourisme from Pierrefonds.
