About us
The Allée des Beaux-Monts, 5 kilometers long and about 60 meters wide, connects the forest to the castle de Compiègne.
Created in 1810 and completed in 1853 by order of Napoleon III, the alley aimed to reproduce the perspective of Schönbrunn near Vienna, the summer palace of the Austro-Hungarian dynasty of which Marie Louise, the Emperor's wife was issue.
The path ends in a hillock with a splendid view of the forest and the castle in the background.
